Charles Anyona, an aspirant Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Lugari’s Mautuma Ward, has donated desks to four schools in his ward.
Mahiga, Muviki, Sipande, and Nabemo are the schools that benefited from the donation aimed at improving learning conditions and academic standards of pupils.
Speaking after the exercise, Anyona expressed consternation that some pupils still sit on the floor in overcrowded classrooms.
“This donation is part of my commitment to investing in education so as to achieve improved educational outcomes for our children. By supporting education, we are investing in the future of our youth,” he said, promising to continue supporting more schools in the area.
The aspirant also urged school heads to be kind to learners who lack school fees and allow them to study.
“Our children are safe in schools. Sending them away every time is so dangerous because some of them engage in very bad activities along the way, which are likely to sway them away from the academic path and spoil their future, so I beg let us keep them in school,” he said.
Muviki and Nabemo primary school headteachers, Mr. Henry Vidonyi and Ms. Jessica Iyadi, were pleased by the aspirant’s action and confirmed that their schools and others have insufficient learning materials.
