Azimio leader Raila Odinga has revealed that he has not been able to turn up for the series of 3-day protests due to a bad flu.
In an interview with Nation, responding to questions over his health since he did not physically attend the demonstrations that kicked off on Wednesday, the former Prime Minister said that he is, however, recovering after receiving medical attention.
“I have a terrible flu, which put me down for a while, and I got medical attention. I am currently getting better, and I will be okay,” Raila said.
The opposition leader rallied supporters to turn up on Friday for the grand finale of this week’s protests.
“Everything is okay. These protests are not for Raila, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, or Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka. This is for all Kenyans. They do not have to be present for the demonstrations to go on,” he said.
Odinga added that his team has a coordinator who has been organizing the demos, and everything is going as planned.
Raila, however, dismissed claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta was funding the protests, describing the allegations by President William Ruto as meant to whip the emotions of Kenyans.
He emphasized that he was seeking a handshake, as claimed by leaders in government.
The Azimio coalition has asked supporters to converge at Jevanjee Gardens (CBD), Imara Daima Grounds (Embakasi South), and Kibra Kamukunji Grounds (Kibra Constituency) by the set time.
