Four perish, 8 injured in night accident at Mabanga

Four people have been confirmed dead while eight are nursing injuries following a grisly road accident at Mabanga along the Webuye-Malaba highway on Sunday night.

This happened after a passenger service vehicle (PSV) belonging to Bungoma Line Shuttle hit a stationery truck from behind.

Bungoma South Police boss Benjamin Kimwele confirmed that three, including the driver of the ill-fated vehicle, died on the spot while one succumbed while receiving treatment. Eight others, who were rushed to Bungoma Referral Hospital, are nursing injuries.

“I am calling on drivers to be very vigilant when driving especially at night. They should avoid over-speeding,” the police boss said.

The OCPD added that accidents are prone to occur due to the congestion of long-distance trucks on the road.

“The trucks are a time bomb, they should be cleared very fast to stop causing accidents,” he said.

The body of the deceased were taken to Bungoma Hospital Mortuary.
