Naivas Supermarket has unveiled its 101st branch at the newly constructed Catholic Mall in Kakamega town.
The new outlet is a big boost to the economy of the town and a great source of employment for youths, with 40 percent coming from the local community.
At least 100 Kenyans have been offered jobs in the new branch, making a total of 12,000 people employed by the supermarket countrywide.
Charles Mbugua, the supermarket’s director, said their expansion into several towns across the country is with the aim of providing employment to Kenyan youths.
Apart from the common products, the supermarket will also have a section for fresh farm produce that will be supplied by local farmers.
“All the fresh produce we are sourcing from farmers in Kakamega as we envision to grow the economy of this area and the country at large through our supermarket,” the director said.
