Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has initiated the enhancement of six grassroots roads in Lugari Sub-County, marking a crucial step in his Sh600 million 10km per ward road project.
His week-long tour across Lugari culminated in the launch of the St. Gabriel-Lake Basin Road in Lugari Ward last Wednesday.
Furthering the development efforts, Barasa commissioned the maintenance of the Bishop Njenga-Baharini-Mukhuyu Road in Chekalini Ward and the Chimoi-Chamavele-Lwandeti Road in Lwandeti Ward.
In Chevaywa Ward, the governor kickstarted the maintenance of Sitati Junction-Muhomo Stream-Kivaywa Primary Road. He also oversaw the commencement of improvement works on Marula P.A.G-Munge Market Road in Mautuma Ward and Kipkaren Primary-Mundu Mulayi Junction Road in Lumakanda Ward.
“This programme will see the repairing of the impassable roads, construction of new roads, upgrading some murram roads to bitumen standards and fast track construction of bridges within the wards,” said Governor Fernandes Barasa.
Barasa said he has given contractors four weeks to complete all the murram roads and six months for those being upgraded to bitumen standards.
