Mautuma Ward MCA Charles Anyona on Monday received a consignment of 3,000 bags of fertiliser from the County Government of Kakamega.
The subsidised inputs, which have been doubled from the amount distributed last year, will be handed over to registered farmers as a way to promote sustainable agriculture and combating hunger.
While receiving the consignment at the Ward Administrator’s office at Mlimani Market, Anyona assured residents that the process of distributing the fertiliser will be done transparently.
“We have received 3000 bags from the County Government of Kakamega today and we expect more. We thank the Governor for his efforts in promoting agriculture. I am sure 90% of residents will benefit from the subsidy and I am urging them to remain calm until the Governor officially launches the distribution,” he said.
