Richard Sisa of DAP-K will petition the election of Grey Moi of UDP as the Member of the National Assemby (MCA) in court citing a lack of trust in the manner in which the Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) officials conducted votes tallying.
In a phone call with the Western Kenya Times, Mr. Sisa laid bare his intentions to sue the electoral body for failing to handle the election process in a free and fair manner.
In a screenshot from one of the WhatsApp groups, Mr. Sisa felt sorry for his supporters and blamed the IEBC for denying them a deserved win.
“To my supporters, it’s very unfortunate to me and to you all that IEBC being a responsible body to make a final decision has nailed me…oooh nooo.. I will fight to the final tooth!” He wrote.
In the phone call, Mr. Sisa said he would challenge the election in court in a move to secure his win.
Peter Ssemulati, a presiding officer attached to the Lugari Polling Station, was on Wednesday arrested following a case between Mr. Sisa and Mr. Moi that led to the repeat and delay of tallying of the MCA votes in Lugari Ward.
Reports say that Mr. Moi, through his agents, had alleged that his 113 votes from the polling station were swiped by Mr. Sisa’s 13 votes.
Mr. Sisa had similar grievances.
The case was taken up by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and led to the presiding officer being apprehended.
