Former Rift Valley regional commissioner, George Natembeya of DAP-K, has been declared governor-elect of Trans Nzoia County after beating the incumbent, Dr. Chris Wmalwa of Ford-Kenya.
Natembeya scooped a total of 158,919 votes against 79,029 for Chris Wamalwa in all the 761 polling stations that registered 398,981 voters.
They were followed by Timothy Kiplagat (Independent), 2499, and Jim Nduruchi (Independent), 2460.
While receiving the election certificate, Natembeya thanked the competitors for peaceful campaigns and called upon them to join hands with him in serving the people of Trans Nzoia.
On the Senate seat, Allan Chesang of UDA emerged the winner after garnering 123,793, followed by Joshua Mutoto Werunga of DAP-K with 56,779 and Musoke Muliro with 21,727.
They were trailed by Henry Ndiema with 20,275; Hellen Yego of CCM with 4,710, Robert Masibo with 4,203; Peter Chemuigut with 3,749; Teresa Wangai with 3,685, Jethron Muchilwa with 2,943; Mercy Cheptoo with 2,333; and Martin Bulimo Wakoli with 2,078.
