John Mukulo, who vied for the Lugari Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) seat on an independent ticket and lost, is slowly recovering from what he says was a heartbreaking experience.
Mr. Mukulo was on the ballot with 19 others in a race that was won by Grey Moi of the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Grey Moi, who tried two times before unsuccessfully, garnered 1,764 votes followed by Richard Sisa who received 1,545 votes.
Mr. Mukulo was a distant fourth with 583 votes.
The young leader has asked supporters for prayers as he retreats to a vacation of soul searching in Malava Forest and Kwambu Rock in Kakamega County and Chetambe Hills and Webuye Falls in Bungoma County.
“Hey guys. Losing an election is not an easy thing to overcome. Please pray for me, Hon. Cleophas Malala and Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga,” he posted on social media.
Mr. Mukulo accepted the outcome of the election and since then has embarked on rigorous community service. He even helped in roofing his home church on August 17, days after election results were out.
“As I ponder on my next move, I took time to seek divine intervention by roofing my home church. Thank you church leadership, members, friends and family for your support,” he wrote on social media.
