Former MCA jailed for 4 years for forging KSCE certificate

The MCA is said to have registered for a diploma course at JKUAT with the fake certificate.

Former Kiambu Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Robert Kibe Githongo, has been jailed for four years in prison for forging the KCSE certificate.

Mr. Kibe was charged with making a false KCSE certificate and purporting it to be genuinely issued by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on Monday.

He was also charged with uttering the fake KCSE certificate on December 29, 2014, at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, amounting to two offenses: making a false document contrary to Section 347(a) as read with Section 349 of the Penal Code and uttering a false document contrary to Section 353 of the Penal Code.

Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko sentenced him to four years in prison or pay a fine of KSh500,000 and KSh250,000 for each offense, but he was acquitted on three counts due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

The charges on which he was acquitted were those of deceiving the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), providing false information to the anti-graft body, and making a false statutory.
