Sirisia MP John Waluke, four area MCAs present as Nabwera launches the Lugari NG-CDF Football Tournament

The tournament is bringing together eight teams from every ward in Lugari Constituency.

The opening ceremony of the Lugari NG-CDF Football Tournament witnessed the heavy presence of Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera launching the event in the presence of Sirisia MP John Waluke and four Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from the constituency: Grey Moi of Lugari Ward, Bernard Bokanda of Lumakanda, Charles Anyona of Mautuma and Titus Kwoma of Chekalini.

The leaders congregated at the Panpaper grounds in Lugari Ward where they spoke to players and fans about the objective of the tournament that’ll be on till January 18, 2023.

MP John Waluke promised to also attend the final and contribute to awarding the winner with Sh100,000.

“We want to be together as the people of Western Kenya. I will award the team that wins this tournament Sh100,000,” he said, adding that the best two teams will have a chance to rematch with the best teams in Sirisia.

Mr. Nabwera said his aim is to support local talent by sponsoring initiatives, such as the tournament. He said teams will get boots and allowances to facilitate their training.

“We are looking forward to making a studio to support youths talented in music and and film.

“The film house will nurture local talent to be soon worldwide and go as far as Rwanda and the world,” he said.

The MCAs echoed their wish to work with the MP to uplift talent.

“We’ll work with you all the years without tiring,” Lukamanda MCA, Bernard Bokanda, said.

Kulumbeni FC wins the opening match

Kulumbeni FC won the opening match after defeating Panpaper FC 5-4 in thrilling penalty shootouts after the regular time ended with a 1-1 draw.

The winning team was awarded Sh40,000 as Panpaper received Sh25,000.
