The County Government of Kakamega has launched the supply of Monosex Tilapia fingerlings in a bid to support farmers in rearing their own fish in ponds.
Each of the 581 farmers identified through the Aquaculture Business Development Programme (ABDP) will get 1000 of the total 581,000 fingerlings distributed.
The ABDP program is funded by the Government of Kenya in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
IFAD targets to increase smallholder aquaculture development in 15 counties, including Kakamega.
The activity will run for the whole week to reach farmers in all 12 sub-counties of Kakamega County.
