Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Lumakanda Ward in Lugari Sub-County, Bernard Bokanda Mulama, has implored the Kakamega County government to donate a fire truck that will help to curb the increasing cases of fires on roads, business premises, and homes.
The MCA cited the recent accidents at Magut and Chimoi centers along the Eldore-Webuye highway in which people lost their lives after the vehicles were burned to ashes.
The county rescue team arrived too late.
“We don’t have a fire truck here in Lumakanda Ward and Lugari Sub-County at large. A few days ago, accidents occurred at Magut, Chimoi, and Panpaper. The fire truck that was deployed arrived after life and property had already been lost. It is high time the County Government of Kakamega brings us a fire truck,” he said.
The accident at Chimoi last week led to eight deaths.
