Real Madrid beat 10-man Chelsea 2-0

Chelsea’s woes deepened after a 2-0 defeat by Real Madrid in their first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal at the Santiago Bernabeu last night.

The Blues’ defense failed to prevent the host’s assault in the first half and led to a goal by Karim Benzema at the 21^st minute.

Moments after Kalidou Kulibaly was subbed after suffering an injury, Ben Chilwell was shown a straight red at the 59^th minute for denying Rodrygo a clear goalscoring opportunity after pulling his shirt just outside the penalty box.

Marco Asensio scored at the 74^th minute to give the Spanish giants an advantage before their return leg next week.
