The group planted 100 trees in three schools last week.

A week after planting 1000 trees in three schools in Mautuma Ward in Lugari Sub-County as a special gesture for Easter, Arsenal Fans Lugari Branch have scaled up the program by planting 2,280 more trees in Chekalini Ward.

The activity was conducted at Holy Family Musembe Secondary School and at the office of Chekalini Location Chief Julius Mpapale.

“I am so impressed with these young people. They are displaying that the love of football can extend to serving the community,” the chief said.

Mr. Mpapale promised to mobilize the school and the community to take care of the trees.

Peter Simiyu, a member of the 55-member group, said that they aim at scaling up the project to cover the whole of Lugari Sub-County.

“We are striving towards making Lugari green. We want to live a legacy and set a trend of taking care of the environment that the future generations can adopt,” he said.

Simiyu challenged the fans of other teams, including Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United, to come up with initiatives that benefit society.

The dedicated fans planted 1,000 trees last week at Ivona Mixed Secondary School and Mbagara Secondary School with the help of Mautuma Location Chief Pamela Kulali.

“To be a fan is to not only bask in victory. We also champion for societal goods such as taking care of the environment,” the group’s chairman, Ayub Okwako, said.

In addition to their advocacy work, the group also has a welfare program that supports members in times of crisis.

Arsenal, which is now on top of the table, is facing a tough battle from Manchester City in the race for the Premier League titles.
