Fernandes Barasa, the ODM gubernatorial candidate for Kakamega County, has assured women in the region that his administration will ensure equal opportunities for them.
In a speech to supporters in Khwisero Sub-County, the former KETRACO CEO stated that women will have a 50/50 chance in his leadership.
“I would like to thank Hon. Raila Odinga for valuing women. He unveiled Martha Karua as his running mate to show how important women are in this modern society,” he said.

The aspirant also added that, if elected governor, Kakamega County will grow both socially and economically under his regime.
Accompanied by Khwisero MP Christopher Asike Wanganga, he said the county is in safe hands under him and his deputy, former Lugari MP Ayub Savula.
Barasa is vying on an ODM ticket under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, and his closest competitor is former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala of the ANC under the Kenya Kwanza Coalition.
