Lugari Constituency parliamentary contestant for the Amani National Congress (ANC), Alex Atingo, is now cleared to vie for the seat.
Speaking after receiving the vying certificate at the Lumakanda IEBC headquarters, Atingo alias Duke, expressed jubilation for having made it through to the ballot.
“My people of Lugari, it is time to change Lugari and create a suitable environment for both social and economic growth. Time is now tano fresh,” he said.
Atingo, a former student of Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT), is trying his luck in politics and the Lugari parliamentary seat for the very first time.
Many people certainly know him as a close friend of ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and a relative of the outgoing Lugari MP, Ayub Savula, perhaps his cousin.
Among his closest rivals is Nabii Nabwera of ODM and Bryan Liseche of UDP.
Tom Lutali is a seasoned scribe based in Lugari Sub-County in Kakamega County who writes human interest stories and sports for WKT.
