A poster going round on social media with Lugari parliamentary poll results showing that Bryan Liseche is leading in popularity is doctored, the Western Kenya Times can confidently confirm.
The poster shows that poll results for Lugari Constituency from Mizani Africa were released on July 28th, 2022 and that Mr. Liseche is leading by 34.2%, ahead of his closest rival, Nabii Nabwera, who has 26.8%.
The Western Kenya Times has established that Mizani Africa has not officially released any poll results for Lugari Constituency since June 23, 2022. The only poll results that were released as of July 28, 2022, are from Mombasa County as shwon in Mizani’s official social media handles.
Liseche’s head of communication, Emmanuel Tyron, couldn’t ascertain the authenticity of the information in the poster. He instead said that Liseche maintains a sure lead in Lugari to guarantee even higher ranks in poll results.
“Different opinion polls are normally conducted by different companies at different times without our knowledge. The previous polls were conducted and placed Liseche in different positions but we did not complain about them regardless of them being fake or legit. Otherwise, the far Liseche has gone, he’s the front runner and as at now his popularity is about 50% compared to his competitors.
“The sources of all the polls have never been an issue to us. The 34.2% that Liseche was awarded is still lower. The true reflection of what’s on the ground is more than that, and he’s above other candidates,” Tyron said.
The June poll by Mizani Africa put Nabii Nabwera of ODM ahead with 44.8%, followed by Henry Shitanda, 19%. Bryan Liseche came a distant fourth with 8.6%.
