A total of 12 candidates are seeking to succeed Ayub Savula as the second Member of Parliament for Lugari Constituency under the new 2010 Constitution.
The candidates: Jairus Omaya, Edgar Ogonya, Bryan Munika Liseche, Isaac GM Andabwa, Charles Tung’a, Nabii Burudi Nabwera, James Luchivia, Philemon Otindo, Joseph Ogonyo Obura, Patrick Lihanda, Jairus Omaya and Henry Shitanda are battling for around 80,000 votes.
Like other regions in the country, Lugari Constituency has had its own share of candidates selling their manifestos until the curtains came down on campaigns on Friday.
An assessment by the Western Kenya Times brings out these three candidates as likely to produce the next Member of Parliament for the constituency just a few hours before the opening of polling stations tomorrow at 6 AM.
1. Isaac GM Andabwa
Isaac GM Andabwa, a vibrant trade unionist, is the founder and long-serving secretary general of the Kenya National Private Security Workers Union Secretary General (KNPSWU).
Bro. Andabwa will be vying for the seat under the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket and be making his first attempt at a political seat.

The CEO Africa website mentions that Andabwa studied at Mukumu Boarding Primary School and Kakamega High School, both where he was school captain and head of the Christian Union.
After clearing high school, Andabwa worked as a security guard at the US Embassy in 1998, the same year that Nairobi experienced a historic terror attack.
By 2019, he was pursuing a degree in Criminology at St. Paul’s University to increase his expertise and knowledge in the security field.
In 2006, he mobilized private workers against mistreatment by the then regime, which he found greedy and inhumane. That was the inception of his KNPSWU.
2. Nabii Burudi Nabwera
Nabii Nabwera, known in political circles as ‘4G Network’ is a former Chief of Staff and currently the Minister of Livestock in the Kakamega County government.
Son to the first MP of Lugari and Kenya’s first ambassador to the US, Mzee Burudi Nabwera, Nabii is making a third stub after losing in the 2013 and 2017 general elections, which were all won by Ayub Savula.

Nabwera, who calls himself Omwana we Likhanga (son of the guinea fowl), will appear on the ballot on the ODM ticket after he was endorsed by Azimio la Umoja presidential flagbearer, Raila Odinga, and outgoing Ayub Savula.
Online records show that he studied at Musingu High School. His tertiary education history remains unclear.
3. Bryan Munika Liseche
A former Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officer and currently a renowned businessman, Bryan Munika Liseche grew interested in the politics of Lugari just after the 2017 general elections.
Liseche will be making his first attempt at an elective post under Cyrus Jirongo’s United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket.
Online records show that Liseche graduated with a Diploma in Business Management from KCA University in October 2020.
