The sports sector in Webuye West Constituency got a big boost after Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Matulo Ward Stephen Simiyu launched a two-week tournament to revive the ailing sports sector in the area.
The tournament will feature football, volleyball, and netball during Phase One of the tournament. Some 12 football teams will compete to produce the winner.
Gracing the event, the MCA, through his Steve Kaiser Foundation, noted that the aim of the tournament is to revive and also nurture various talents among the youth.
“We want our ward to produce teams that will feature at national and international levels in each sporting activity,” he told the thousands of residents who thronged to witness the launch.
He remarked that it is time leaders walked the talk and delivered what they promised residents during the campaign period.
The tournament will run for two weeks, and the finals will be played on January 17, 2022.
