Haaland sets Champions League record as Man City sink RB Leipzig for quarterfinals

Haaland scored his goals at 22′ (P), 24’, 45+2’, 53′, and 57’.

Erling Haaland was unstoppable last night during Manchester City’s rout against RB Leipzig in their second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Haaland scored five and set a number of records as City sunk Leipzig 7-0 at Etihad.

The Norwegian became the first player to score five times in a Champions League knockout match since Lionel Messi in 2012. Apart from that, he set record as the youngest (23) and fastest player to score 30 goals in the UCL, as well as the highest scorer in a single season with 39 goals in three months, beating Tommy Johnson’s record of 38 goals in the 1928-29 season.

Haaland scored his goals at 22′ (P), 24’, 45+2’, 53′, and 57’.

Other goals were scored by İlkay Gündoğan (49’) and Kevin De Bruyne (90+2’).

Manchester City and Chelsea are now the English sides that have qualified for the quarterfinals so far.
