A man was roughed up for allegedly tying to bribe a Vihiga Bullets defender in an attempt to fix their upcoming National Super League (NSL) match against Kisumu All Stars.
In a video circulating online, the man is seen being pulled out of his car by another man, said to be an official of Vihiga Bullets, after he attempted to speed off.
“Do not talk to me; I am struggling to put together a team, and you come to do match fixing. I struggle every day with this team, but you are riding in a good car while I die poor,” the official was heard lamenting.
The official accused the man of compromising the team last season and leading to its string of poor results.
“Today you will not leave. You have even come to the team’s camp to do match fixing with this young man, destroying his future,” he is heard saying.
The man was reportedly forced to record a statement at the Booker Police Station in Mumias as investigations continue.
Vihiga Bullets were relegated from the Football Kenya Federation Premier League last season after a series of poor results that saw them record only three wins out of their 32 matches.
This season, they have won 1-0 against Kajiado, drawn 1-1 with Patriots, and lost 5-1 against Gusii United.
