Vihiga County plans to set up a digital system for health facilities

The system will see the smooth operation of activities in health facilities across the county.

Vihiga Governor Wilberforce Ottichilo yesterday hosted a delegation of experts from USAI-AFYA UGAVI in a move towards digitalizing operations in health facilities across the county.

This comes six months after the Health Produtcus Technology Unit (HPTU) operationalization workshop.

The event was attended by Health Services Chief Officer Dr. Mary Anyienda, Director of Health Dr. Martin Sikuku, and Head of Health Products and Technology Unit Jerusa Oluhano, among others.

The team visited the county’s GIS Lab, which will play a big part in the exercise set to be adopted in September this year.

The exercise will help with accurate data collection and entries that will be used to determine demand, plan procurement, monitor consumption trends, assess stock levels, decide on resupply quantities, prevent medicine expiry, and monitor the capacity and performance of the entire supply chain, as reported by the county’s press service.
