Ebwali Boys High School from Vihiga County are the new champions of the national secondary school’s Term Two games boys’ football organized by the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSA) after thrashing Highway Boys of Nairobi County 1-0 in the finals played today in Nakuru County.
The team, which has maintained a 100% record in the games, received its important goal about the 10th minute from a foul kick by Tom Osakio, who directed it past the defensive wall and into the goal, sending the keeper packing.
Ebwali qualified for the semis after beating Kabarnet Boys 3-1 in the semis yesterday, just after crushing Highway 3-1 to secure a place in the quarter-finals, in which Highway also qualified.
On the side of the ladies, Wiyeta Girls from Trans Nzoia County have been crowned champions of girls’ football after beating Dagoretti of Nairobi 4- 1 in post-match penalties.
Regular time ended in a barren draw.
Other games
Kwathanze Girls from Machakos County emerged winners in volleyball while St. Anthony Boys of Trans Nzoia beat Friends School Kamusinga of Bungoma County to win the hockey finals.
Hospital Hills from Nairobi County won the handball after thrashing Kamito of West Pokot County.
